Sumitomo Chemical Associate Officer Receives 1906 Award from the IEC

Sumitomo Chemical today announced that Chizu Sekine, the Company's Associate Officer, has received the 1906 Award for 2018 from the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The IEC, which was founded in 1906 and has the membership of about 80 countries, is an international organization to prepare and publish international standards for all electrical, electronic and related technologies.
The 1906 Award is awarded annually to individuals or organizations in recognition of their significant contribution to advancement in the electrical and electronics standardization activities of the IEC. The Award granted to Chizu Sekine recognizes her invaluable contribution as Convenor of the IEC/TC 119 WG2 (Materials) working group, which is engaged in the IEC’s international standardization for printed electronics materials. She was highly praised for her work in leading technical discussions successfully while coordinating with the members of the participating countries as well as managing multiple projects aptly that the working group undertook.
Printed electronics is likely to grow as a key technology for sensor networks, which is indispensable for the realization of IoT society. It is expected that continued progress in the international standardization of methods to evaluate the characteristics and durability of printed electronics materials will further facilitate the utilization of materials, paving the way for broader development of technologies and promoting commercialization of a variety of products and their wider use.
