Sumitomo Chemical Receives CDP's Highest Rating in Corporate Climate Action Survey for the Second Consecutive Year

Sumitomo Chemical ("the Company") has been named to CDP's highest-rated "Climate A List 2019" as a company demonstrating excellent performance in responding to the issue of climate change. The Company is in the A list for the second consecutive year.
Established in 2000, CDP is an international non-governmental organization that promotes initiatives by companies and governments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, manage water resources, and conserve forests. Representing institutional investors around the world, CDP collects and evaluates information about leading companies' activities related to climate change. In CDP's survey of 2019, the Climate A List named 179 global companies and 38 Japanese companies selected from among about 8,000 companies that disclosed information on their climate change-related activities.
Sumitomo Chemical identified reducing environmental impact as one of the material issues that it addresses as management priorities, and established key performance indicators (KPIs) for each material issue in November 2019. With regards to reducing environmental impact, among other initiatives, the Company set KPIs for the amount of Group's GHG emissions certified by Science Based Targets (SBT)*1 and KPIs for the sales revenues of Sumika Sustainable Solutions*2 designated products.
