Polymer OLED Materials

Application

Sumitomo Chemical possesses polymer OLED technology as one of its core technologies.
Polymer materials are better suited for forming pixels on large area displays by printing methods such as inkjet. Our OLED materials enable high-resolution printing capable of mass production, promises the emission of the 3 primary colors necessary for full color display, high luminous efficiency, and long life.

Features of Materials

Based on material chemistry and device physics, Sumitomo Chemical is developing functional high-performance OLED materials for next-generation displays and lighting formed by printing.
Through understanding the phenomenon of the printing process, we are also focusing on optimizing ink formulation when manufacturing by the printing method.

Features of Inkjet Printing

Many technologies are necessary for the organic layer formed by printing to develop excellent characteristics. Sumitomo Chemical has many advanced technologies to achieve inkjet printing.
The figures below show the uniformity of the organic layers to fulfill uniform emission across inkjet printed pixels. These organic layers are able to achieve the uniformity and thickness of the devices. This technology can also be applied to device production larger than G8.0.
