In order to achieve a carbon neutral society, the importance of the “Carbon Footprint of Product (CFP)” is more and more important, which expresses the amount of greenhouse gases (GHG) emitted in the processes of the product life cycle, such as mining of raw materials, manufacturing, use, and disposal, in terms of CO2 emissions.
Sumitomo Chemical has developed its own system, CFP-TOMO®, which can calculate CFP easily and efficiently.
We have completed the CFP calculations* for approximately 20,000 of our products by the end of 2021 and have begun providing them to customers.
Furthermore, in order to contribute to the expansion of CFP calculation throughout society and the visualization of GHG emissions in the supply chain, we are widely providing this system free of charge.
*Based on calculation within the range from mining of raw materials to shipment of products (Cradle to Gate)

・Sumitomo Chemical is promoting the dissemination of CFP-TOMO® in the chemical industry in collaboration with the Japan Chemical Industry Association (JCIA).
・To use this tool, previously, it was provided: (1)to member companies of the JCIA Technical Committee based on a contract between our company and JCIA, and (2) to other companies based on an inter-company license agreement with our company. However, from October 2024, we have transitioned to a "click-on agreement." Essentially, once you apply, we will promptly provide you with CFP-TOMO® and a set of related documents. Users can start using the tool by agreeing to the contract displayed upon startup.

Provision of CFP-TOMO®
Sumitomo Chemical provides CFP-TOMO® free of charge to user companies when used for calculating the CFP of products handled by the company and its group companies. For other purposes, it is generally provided for a fee. A contract is required when conducting business to support the CFP calculation of other companies or dispatching personnel for CFP calculation. However, there are cases where we provide it free of charge, such as for academic purposes. For trials to consider business use, we may provide it free of charge for a specified period if approved by us. Please feel free to contact with us.
Please understand the following points:
If an individual who uses this system by clicking the "Agree" button to the contract displayed upon software startup is an officer or employee of a corporation or organization, the user represents and warrants that they are authorized to agree to this contract on behalf of and representing the said corporation or organization. "Authorized" in this context means that the user has completed procedures equivalent to those required when entering into contracts similar to this contract within the corporation or organization to which the user belongs as an officer or employee, thereby attributing the user's agreement and the effects of this contract to the corporation or organization.
In addition, under the previous contract, usage by affiliated companies (subsidiaries and parent companies) was permitted. However, under this contract, while it is possible to calculate the CFP of products of affiliated companies, a separate application is required if officers or employees of affiliated companies use the system.

After confirming the purpose of use, we will send you a link to the system provision site via email.
The information you provide will not be used for any purposes other than the following:
(1) Provision of CFP-TOMO®
(2) Providing information related to CFP-TOMO® from our company
(3) Responding to inquiries
(4) Management of contractual relationships
(5) Disclosure of the information you provided to the Japan Chemical Industry Association (JCIA)
Please note that we may disclose the information you provide to subcontractors for the above purposes.
Our company may provide information or conduct events related to CFP-TOMO® in collaboration with JCIA. Therefore, we may jointly use the information you provide (name, company/organization name, department name, job title, phone number, email address) with JCIA.
The scope of those who jointly use the information you provide is limited to:

When jointly using the information, it will not be used for any purposes other than the following:
(1) Providing information related to CFP-TOMO® from JCIA
(2) Operation of events related to CFP-TOMO®
Depending on the content of your inquiry, it may take some time to respond. Therefore, we may not be able to meet requests for specific response deadlines or urgent requests. Additionally, if you do not provide the necessary information, we may not be able to provide CFP-TOMO®.
