Flame retardancy of SUMIKAEXCEL PES
Limiting oxygen index and smoke production
To compare flame retardancy with other resins, the limiting oxygen index is shown in Figure 3-4-1. Furthermore, SUMIKAEXCEL PES is known for its extremely low smoke emission, and is used in aircraft interior parts. Figure 3-4-2 shows the results of smoke emission tests conducted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in comparison with other resins.

Gas evolution
SUMIKAEXCEL PES is a resin that generates very little corrosive gas during molding, and very little outgassing from molded products.
