SUMIKASUPER LCP Selection Guide for Automotive Parts Applications
Automotive parts applications
SUMIKASUPER LCP has many excellent features and is a material that can make a significant contribution to solving issues required in automobile development, such as: 1) reducing vehicle weight, 2) reducing harmful gas and CO2 emissions, 3) improving fuel efficiency, and 4) introducing new parts for electrification.
Specific benefits of applying SUMIKASUPER LCP to automotive parts
- Thanks to its high fluidity and excellent mechanical properties, it enables the reduction of the number of parts by integrating multiple parts, the miniaturization of parts, and weight reduction by thinning the parts.
- It has high heat resistance of over 300°C, making it possible to replace metal parts exposed to high-temperature environments, such as engine and lamp peripheral parts.
- Because it exhibits high dimensional stability (low expansion and shrinkage) in the temperature range required for automobiles, from extremely low to high temperatures, it is possible to minimize product deformation due to temperature changes. In addition, there is almost no deterioration of physical properties due to heat shock or dry/wet cycles.
- It has extremely low water absorption and dimensional change due to humidity is very small, making part design easy.
- It has excellent chemical resistance and can be used in environments where gasoline, engine oil, ATF, and LLC are used.
- It has excellent vibration-damping properties and is suitable for parts where resonance is a concern around engines, motors, and transmissions, as well as housing parts that require sound insulation such as gearboxes, and exterior panel parts that insulate against rain noise and outside noise.
- It has a proven track record in being used in electrical and electronic equipment connectors and coil bobbins, and can also be widely used in EV motor parts, PCUs, and other in-vehicle electronic equipment parts.
